Global warming is a serious problem, and one about which the fossil fuel industry – aided by the Republican Party – has been spreading considerable disinformation.

While Democrats may be prone to making dramatic, gloom-and-doom statements about the expected effects of global warming, these claims are largely backed by science. They may be exaggerated somewhat for emotional effect, in an attempt (whether misguided or not) to counter the emotional appeal of global warming denial disinformation arguments, but they are essentially true. The actions for which they call are generally well advised, and additionally are almost all things we should be doing anyway even if global warming turns out to be far less severe than predicted.

The claim on this page needs more explanation and/or sources. We are lacking specific examples – sourced quotes – of Democrats spreading disinformation on this subject.
