Post

subject: We're from the government. We're here to help. (non-sarcastic edition)

This is what I call governance (emphasis mine):

["Socialist hellhole" California] Gov. Gavin Newsom introduced his $286.4 billion blueprint for the 2022-23 state budget Monday which included a first-in-the-nation proposal to expand health coverage to all Californians, regardless of immigration status.

[...] The budget also aims to enact universal pre-kindergarten education and increase access to summer and afterschool programs.

Newsom also announced his intention for the state to manufacture and distribute its own insulin.

This is a road to future we want to see. Who in the blazes would be against this, and *why*? And don't give me any of that "poor people will just spend the money on drugs" (like insulin?) or "I don't want to pay for healthcare for someone else's child that I didn't want them to have the right to abort" BS.

Yes, I'm angry. This guy has been consistently attacked by the Right, and yet as far as I can tell he's a decent governor who is pushing public policy that is both good and popular. GOP camp-followers need to get their heads out of the Trömp-juice and start looking at real-world needs and outcomes.
