Hoist By Her Own Petard?

  • 2020-10-01 01:11 @elcome2ell Gender identity Ideology harms women and children. It also harms trans people. We end up trying to build our lives on wishful thinking, and belief in "magical invisible properties". No wonder many of us are so fearful and defensive, and lack confidence in society.

This is by Dr. Debbie Hayton, a trans woman physics professor who... well:

So we have her saying that one's gender identity shouldn't be respected, and that biological sex is all that matters. So by her own logic, I should be calling her "him" and "a man".

Hayton's tweet inspired the following discussion:

...except Hayton's position is that trans women men-who-dress-as-women such as herself should be addressed that way, so...

...how is this transphobic?

"Biological Gender" Again

Guess the biology of her brain doesn't count.

Also, they clearly haven't compared notes with the Gender Criticals, who call it "biological sex", see gender as the enemy, and apparently don't understand what "biological gender" might mean.

"Silenced" = "Given Privileged Access"

It's almost like the court has decided what conclusion they want to reach, and have found the group that will give them the evidence to support that conclusion.

Um What

I'm not quite sure what Wendy is arguing here. I think the original poster is saying it's not ok for people to have aesthetic preferences in their partner's genitalia, which is a viewpoint I've heard but which is just wrong (and does not reflect the consensus among the trans community).

If that's the case, Wendy seems to be thinking that this viewpoint is in danger of being enshrined in law -- which is ridiculous: what would such a law even enforce?
