This is partly a more catchy version of the "[[Irrelevancies/criminals don't obey laws/gun control|Criminals don't obey laws]]" irrelevancy.

It is also partly a {{l/ip|straw man argument}} in that the overwhelming majority of gun control proposals in the US are ''not'' advocating anything like a total ban but more something akin to the regulations currently in place in [[Irrelevancies/Switzerland has high gun ownership and low gun crime|Switzerland]] &ndash; not even the far more effective (and strict) regulation in place across most of the rest of Europe.
