The forced birth movement claims to be in favor of reducing the number of abortions performed every year, but their actions belie this.

  • Their focus has always been on reducing access to abortion services – but this has not been shown to have a significant effect on the number of abortions performed. All it does is make those abortions more dangerous.
  • They also often claim to be trying to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies, but their actions always work against this goal.
  • They also tend to oppose the idea of gay couples adopting children, thus providing a larger pool of good homes for unwanted children, which might help persuade a prospective mother to bring her fetus to term. (It would likely not make a huge amount of difference, but given some of the extreme measures they are willing to take, one would think they would be interested in any improvement in the situation.)
