Hoist By Her Own Petard?
- 2020-10-01 01:11 @elcome2ell “Gender identity Ideology harms women and children. It also harms trans people. We end up trying to build our lives on wishful thinking, and belief in "magical invisible properties". No wonder many of us are so fearful and defensive, and lack confidence in society.”
This is by Dr. Debbie Hayton, a trans woman physics professor who... well:
- 2019-12-22 Transgender woman accused of 'hate speech' after wearing t-shirt stating she is still biologically male - "She is now potentially facing expulsion from the LGBT committee of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) for wearing a top adorned with the slogan: “Trans women are men. Get over it!”"
So we have her saying that one's gender identity shouldn't be respected, and that biological sex is all that matters. So by her own logic, I should be calling her "him" and "a man".
Hayton's tweet inspired the following discussion:
- 2020-10-02 13:31 @elcome2ell “who is "we" here? / you're NOT one of us Debs. / stop trying to speak like you are. / if you call yourself a "TiM" or "AGP" you're NOT trans. you aren't part of our community or the TERF community. they by and large loathe you. / consider deleting your account and shutting up.”
- 2020-10-02 13:32I am trans because I say I am trans, and I do not care for your gatekeeping. @DebbieHayton “” elcome2ell didn't say Debbie wasn't trans; she said Debbie wasn't part of the trans community. misrepresentation by Debbie, there.
- 2020-10-02 15:34 @wendycockcroft “I stand with Debbie for the decency and the common sense.” - um, it's not "decent" to misrepresent arguments against your position
- 2020-10-02 15:36 @elcome2ell “you and debbie can stand in a hole together and live there for all the fucks i give. he's all yours.”
- (quote tweet) 2020-10-02 15:46 @wendycockcroft “Found the transphobe.”

...except Hayton's position is that trans women men-who-dress-as-women such as herself should be addressed that way, so...
...how is this transphobic?
"Biological Gender" Again
- 2020-10-02 School demands a trans student cut her hair or they’ll kick her out "Senior Sanay Martinez was told she must "adhere to the dress code" for her "biological gender" if she wants to finish high school. "
Guess the biology of her brain doesn't count.
Also, they clearly haven't compared notes with the Gender Criticals, who call it "biological sex", see gender as the enemy, and apparently don't understand what "biological gender" might mean.

"Silenced" = "Given Privileged Access"
- 2020-10-05 Anti-trans pressure group invited to give evidence in landmark puberty blockers case as Stonewall and Mermaids shut out (via) "Transgender Trend, a UK-based pressure group best known for sending discredited and controversial research packs to school teachers that claims it is better to refuse to affirm the gender of trans children, was granted permission by the judge on 24 August to “intervene” in the case."
It's almost like the court has decided what conclusion they want to reach, and have found the group that will give them the evidence to support that conclusion.

Um What
- 2020-10-04 09:54 @lilynoellecook “The only "genital preference" that is valid is trans people wanting different genitals. #genitalpreference #transphobia”
- 2020-10-06 09:30 @wendycockcroft “This is why we fight. Lesbians and gay men are the canaries in the coal mine. If their rights go, so do ours.”
I'm not quite sure what Wendy is arguing here. I think the original poster is saying it's not ok for people to have aesthetic preferences in their partner's genitalia, which is a viewpoint I've heard but which is just wrong (and does not reflect the consensus among the trans community).
If that's the case, Wendy seems to be thinking that this viewpoint is in danger of being enshrined in law -- which is ridiculous: what would such a law even enforce?
